UNIMA Student Laptop Empowerment Programme

Who is eligible to participate in the programme?

This programme is open to:

All registered students of the University of Malawi, including those enrolled via Generic, ODeL, or eCampus
All academic and administrative faculty members of the University of Malawi

A valid university registration or staff ID number is required for participation.

What are the payment options?

Participants can choose from two flexible payment plans:

Full Payment: Pay the full amount upfront and receive a 5% discount.
Installment Plan: Choose from either 6 or 12 monthly installments with the first installment due upon collection.

What documentation is required to apply?

Document requires:
• Application form (from website/student portal).
• Student registration number.
• Valid student ID copy.
• Signed guarantor form

What are the laptop specifications?

Each participant will receive a device configured for academic and professional use. Specifications are:

Is the laptop mine to keep after payments are complete?

Yes. Once payments are completed in full, the device belongs to the user. It is not a lease or loan.

Who is behind this initiative?

The programme is led by the University of Malawi, supported by the Ministry of Education, powered by Astria Learning, and financed in partnership with the National Bank of Malawi.

How long does it take to approve an application?

Applications are typically reviewed and approved within 24 to 72 working hours. Applicants will be notified once their application has been processed and approved.

How do I collect my laptop once approved?

Laptops can be collected upon signing the financing agreement.

At the point of collection:

Each laptop’s serial number is recorded against the beneficiary.
A warranty card is issued to every recipient.
The first installment (if applicable) must be paid at the time of collection.
